About the Program
Neurology as a new specialty
Atlanta's PGY2 Neurology Pharmacy Residency program is nothing short of special. Prior to establishing the program, neurology had a long-standing history of being combined with psychiatry as a discipline. While overlap between these specialties exists, there are also distinct differences including drugs and diagnoses unique to neurology such as stroke, brain injury, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, and more. While the program was in its infancy, ASHP recognized the need to identify Neurology as its own specialty among clinical pharmacists. Neurology as a field is growing exponentially and so too should the expertise of pharmacists practicing in neurology.
